About the London Sports Massage school

It all began in September 1989 when our principle tutor, Mel Cash, started the first ever Sports Massage course in London following the publication of his book "Sports Massage" in 1988. Since 1989 the LSSM has remained the innovator, leader and pioneer of the Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy sector in the UK. The schools great reputation attracts students from all over the country so we also train more than just Sports Massage therapists in London.
Our STTQ Levels 4 and 5 Soft Tissue Therapy qualifications now covers a wider and more advanced range of clinical skills than when we started all those years ago. We are creating a new category in modern healthcare, providing good, effective treatment for people suffering with muscular pain. And we achieve this using traditional hands-on skills that Physiotherapy no longer uses, even though they have proved to be so effective for centuries.
Along with our Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage courses in London the LSSM has been instrumental in spreading the STTQ qualification through a number of other massage training centres in the South of England with plans to support more throughout the UK via the ISRM.
Our Level's 4 & 5 Diploma courses in Soft Tissue Therapy includes Sports Massage and teaches this as part of a support package for athletes, and others, helping them prevent injury and enhance performance. We then move on to develop more Remedial Massage skills which can treat the painful symptoms caused by any stressful lifestyle factor affecting the wider population. Next we introduce a range of injury assessment skills combined with the highly advanced soft tissue massage techniques that are needed to effectively treat them. Finally you will learn how to put all this together into a very person-centred approach to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of minor and chronic musculoskeletal pain and injury.
STTQ Level 4 Soft Tissue Massage course
Designed for people looking to work professionally in the Massage Therapy industry we offer a Level 4 course in Soft Tissue Therapy developed by the recognised leaders in the field of massage therapy. This 16 day course is held over 8 weekends. roughly one a month for hands-on instruction together with online-assignments (coursework), progress tests & case studies.

STTQ Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Sports Massage and Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy
Our Level 5 Diploma massage course is designed for anyone with a serious interest in pursuing corrective soft tissue therapy as a career.
LSSM will take you from start to finish without the need to do multiple massage courses at different levels and you do not need to have done an anatomy and physiology module.
Our course is available to qualified therapists with one the following:
- Level 3 Massage qualification plus 2 years or 400 clinical hours of experience*.
- Level 4 Massage qualification plus 1 year or 200 clinical hours of experience*.
- Level 4 STTQ Diploma.
- Degree qualification which included a massage module plus 1 year or 200 clinical hours of experience*.
- Or equivalent training and experience*.
*Clinical experience is evaluated through information provided in the application process.
So what started off as a Sports Massage course in London has come on a very long way and is now the number one Soft Tissue massage course in the UK.
